Auburn vs Georgia 11/10/18 NCAA Football Odds, Preview and Prediction

After a big 34-17 win over Kentucky, the 5th ranked Georgia Bulldogs have already locked up the SEC East title and have also booked themselves a rematch of last season’s national championship game against Alabama on December 1. But their quest for the National title continues as they still have three games left on their schedule. First up are the Auburn Tigers on Saturday 11/10/18 at the Sanford Stadium in Florida.

First Time As Underdogs this Season

Jarrett Stidham has thrown for 1,953 yards on 160-264 pass completion. Stidham has thrown a total of 10 touchdowns with 4 interceptions this season. JaTarvious Whitlow is Auburn’s top rushing option with 642 rushing yards on 108 carries with four touchdowns. The Tigers rank 80th in the nation in passing yards per game with their 222 yards per contest. They are also just 82nd in rushing offense with 155.2 rushing yards per game.

Auburn is ranked 75th in offense with 28.3 points scored per game but boasts of the 13th best scoring defense in the country at 17.3 points per game allowed. This is the first time this season that the Tigers have been tagged underdogs for the first time this season and they will be playing only their third road game of the year.

Fromm Doing A Very Good Job

Quarterback Jake Fromm has done a very good job for the Bulldogs in his second season as starter. The sophomore has completed 130-192 passes for a total of 1,762 passing yards. Fromm has thrown a total of 16 touchdowns this season with just four turnovers Fromm ranks second to Tua Tagovailoa in the SEC in terms of quarterback rating and completion percentage

The Georgia running game is led by Elijah Holyfield who has rushed for a total of 674 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Georgia is ranked 20th in the nation in scoring at 38.1 points per game and 10th in scoring defense with just 16.4 points per game allowed. The rank 17th in college football in rushing yards per game with 233.8 yards per game.

Who Wins?

The Georgia Bulldogs have won 7 out of their last 10 games against the Auburn Tigers. Georgia is 8-1 SU in their last 9 games played and undefeated SU in their last five games at home. On the other hand, Auburn is 15-6 SU in their last 21 games and 4-2 SU in their last six games on the road. The Tigers though are 1-4 in their last five games against the Bulldogs and 0-5 SU in their last five games against Georgia.

Last season, the Bulldogs only lost two games. One was the championship game against Alabama and the other was well, against Auburn. The Tigers enter this game with plenty of confidence by virtue of that victory but if you take a look at the numbers, Auburn just doesn’t stack up against Georgia. The Tigers have been beaten thrice in conference play this season, losing to LSU, Mississippi State and Tennessee. The Volunteers’ win over the Tigers was their first conference win in 11 games.

Auburn has played on the road only twice so far this year, going 1-1. Georgia is an unbeaten 5-0 at home this season. I don’t think the Tigers have much chance to win this game. We’re picking the Georgia Bulldogs to beat the Auburn Tigers on 11/1/18.

Other Bets To Make

The Tigers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games played in November but 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games against teams with winning records. Auburn is also 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after a straight up win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win. On the other hand, the Georgia Bulldogs are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games against teams with winning records and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games played on grass. The Bulldogs are also 7-3 ATS in their last 10 conference games and 10-4 in their last 14 games overall. Head to head, the Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the Bulldogs and are winless in their last five road games against Georgia.

The Tigers are 0-5 SU and ATS in their last five games played and have lost those games by an average margin of 20.6 points. Georgia is 2-3 ATS this season when favored by at least 14 points. Auburn has been solid in most of its games this season and could have added a few more wins if things went their way. I’m picking the Bulldogs to win this game outright but I think the line is too thick for them to cover. Give me the plus points here. Prediction: Auburn +14

The total has gone under in five out of the last seven games of Auburn but the total has gone over in four out of their last six games on the road. The over is 4-2 in the last six games of Georgia but the total has gone under in four out of the last five games between Auburn and Georgia.
