Washington Redskins vs Green Bay Packers Betting Odds and Predictions

The Washington Redskins head to Lambeau Field on Sunday as double-digit underdogs against the Green Bay Packers.

The Redskins have quietly won back to back games as Washington is coming off victories over the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers. Still, the Redskins have only three wins this season and remain one of the league’s cellar dwellers. Meanwhile, the Packers bounced back from a blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers two weeks ago with an uninspiring 31-13 win over the New York Giants. Green Bay is a double-digit favorite this week against another bottom team in Washington.

Two Wins in a Row

Don’t look now but the woeful Washington Redskins now have three wins on the season. After opening the season with five straight losses, Washington looked headed to the bottom of the ocean with their 1-9 SU record but the Redskins have quietly put together two wins in a row in the last two weeks.

Rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins threw for only 147 yards in their last game against the Carolina Panthers but Washington’s running game produced 248 yards to offset Haskins’ poor outing. Rookie running back Derrius Guice rushed for 129 yards with two touchdowns while Adrian Peterson had 99 rushing yards on 13 carries.

The Redskins rank at the bottom in passing with an average of 163.0 rushing yards per game and they are also dead last in scoring at 14.4 points per game this season. Washington’s rushing game is 20th overall at 99.4 yards per game and they are giving up 24.2 points per game this year.

Packers Bounce Back

The Green Bay Packers took a deflating pounding from the San Francisco 49ers two weeks ago but last weekend, they bounced back with a 31-13 win over the New York Giants to improve to 9-3 SU on the season. Green Bay is just 2-2 SU in their last four games but they are still on top of the NFC North team standings.

Aaron Rodgers carried the Packers on a cold and snowy night in New York last Sunday. Rodgers was in his element and he threw for four touchdowns to help the Packers rebound from a poor West Coast outing. However, Green Bay’s running game produced only 79 yards with Jamal Williams as the leading rusher with 40 on the game.

The Packers are 14th in passing at 238.6 yards per game this season. They are 19th on the ground with an average of 101.4 rushing yards per game. Green Bay ranks 11th in scoring at 24.1 points per game this season and they are giving up an average of 21.3 points per game on the year.

Who Wins?

Washington is 4-15 SU in their last 19 games played. The Redskins are 2-4 SU in six road games this season, and 2-10 SU in their last 12 games against the NFC Conference. Green Bay is 9-3 SU in their last 12 games played. The Packers are 5-1 SU in their last six games played at home. Head to head, the Packers are 6-3 SU in their last 10 games played against the Redskins.

The Redskins have won two games in a row and they are coming off a 29-21 win over the Carolina Panthers. Dwayne Haskins continues to struggle behind center but Washington’s two-headed running attack takes the pressure off the rookie quarterback. The Redskins ran for 248 yards against the Panthers and they will need to run again to beat the Packers.

Green Bay is coming off a 31-13 win over the New York Giants. Aaron Rodgers threw for four touchdowns and he has been the main source of offense. The Packers running game produced only a total of 79 yards against the Giants and it has failed to top 120 rushing yards in five out of their last six games.

The Packers can’t expect to win the Super Bowl relying on Rodgers’ arm the rest of the way. With Washington owning a bottom 5 run defense, Green Bay’s running game should have a good outing here. I expect the Packers to play a more balanced offense than last week and that should be enough to give them the victory here.

PREDICTION: GREEN BAY PACKERS

Other Bets to Make

The Redskins are 4-2 ATS in their last six games played. Washington is 3-3 ATS in six road games this season, and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games played against the NFC North Division. The Packers are 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games played. Green Bay is 4-2 ATS in six home games played, and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against the NFC East Division. Head to head, Green Bay is 5-3-1 ATS in their last 10 games against Washington.

  • Spread Odds: Redskins +13 (-113) | Packers -13 (-107)
  • Odds from SpinSports as of 12/04/19

Washington is 3-1 ATS in their last four games as double-digit underdogs while Green Bay is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games after an ATS win in their last game. I don’t think the Redskins are going to win this game at all. Their offense isn’t good enough this season but they can run the football and I think that +13 is too much to cover. Washington should be able to hang around here. I’ll take the underdogs and the plus points here.

PREDICTION: REDSKINS +13

The total has gone under in seven out of the last nine games played by Washington. The Redskins have seen the total go under in four out of their last five road games. The total has gone under in three out of the last four games played by Green Bay. The over is 7-3 in Green Bay’s last 10 games against the NFC Conference. Head to head, the total has gone over in four out of the last five games between the Redskins and Packers but the under is 5-1 in the last six games between these two teams in Green Bay.

  • Totals Odds: Over 41.5 (-110) | Under 41.5 (-110)
  • Odds from SpinSports as of 12/04/19

The Redskins have scored 19 or fewer points in five out of their last six games played while the Packers have allowed an average of 22 points per game in their last three games played while scoring an average of 21 points during that period. Washington’s offense is still a mess while Green Bay continues to be one-dimensional and inconsistent on that side of the field.

PREDICTION:UNDER 41.5

, on December 16, 2019Did you guys catch the last Eagles game? It was great! The Redskins didn't have a chance. I can't believe that comeback from Carson Wentz. I'm looking forward to that NFC showdown game.
