The Seattle Seahawks travel to Levi’s Stadium to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in a crucial game for them.
Seattle improved to 8-5 on the season with a win over the Minnesota Vikings last week. The win was their fourth in a row, giving them the second longest current winning streak in the NFC next to Dallas. A win over the 49ers on Sunday will not just give the Seahawks a franchise best seven consecutive winning seasons, it will also secure a wild card berth that will put them back in the playoffs after a one year hiatus.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is just 212 yards away from a seventh consecutive 3,000 passing yards season and his next score is going to give him his 3rd straight 30 touchdown season in seven years. Although he threw for a career low 72 yards las Monday, Wilson is 11-2 SU against the 49ers and has won his last nine games against San Francisco.
The San Francisco 49ers snapped a three game losing streak when they upset the Denver Broncos 20-14. The 49ers were reeling from losses to the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and to the Seahawks when they ambushed the Broncos and crushed their playoff hopes. Despite the win, San Francisco is 3-10 on the season to share the bottom of the NFC with the Arizona Cardinals.
Rookie Nick Mullens stepped up for the 49ers against the Broncos. The rookie signal caller completed 20 out of 33 passes and threw for a total of 332 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. San Francisco built a 20-0 lead in the first half but were unable to score in the second half of that game.
