Bookmakers believe that Adam Levine and company will likely start the show off with “Makes Me Wonder,” which comes in at even money. The band’s first ever number 1 single is a good bet to get things going and is followed by second favorite “One More Night” at odds of +550.
“Moves Like Jagger” and “Animals” are next in line at +600 and +700, respectively. Odds start to get a little longer the further you go down the list, eventually falling on “Maps” and “She Will Be Loved” at +2200.
Even if you are a fan of Maroon 5 – or even smart enough to head over to sites that have their set lists from previous shows – your knowledge might not apply to their gig on Sunday. This is Super Bowl Halftime, and things are always different. Given the sheer amount of money that will be bet on the show, too, there is no doubt that they will be keeping everything close their chest, not just what song they are set to play first.
One thing that Adam Levine will certainly be keeping to himself is the color of the top he will be wearing when the show begins. Bovada believes that the frontman of the band will more than likely be donning a black top and have provided odds of -140 that this will be the case come Sunday evening.
If you think that there is no way Levine will be wearing black, you can get your hands on even money for your prediction. Given that Levine is known to wear yellow a lot in his performances, this bet might be one that has a real good chance of working in your favor.
Will the pop-star pretty boy spoil his hairdo and wear a hat at the start of the show? Or will he be keen to keep every hair in place on stage at the biggest gig in America? appear to be leaning towards Levine not wearing a hat when the show kicks off, and you can get odds of -300 for agreeing with them.
Alternatively, if you believe that Levine will almost certainly be wearing a hat on his head at the start of the show, get yourself odds of +200 with the bookie. There is no requirement for Levine to wear any particular style of hat in order for you to win your bet, so regardless to whether he shows up in a cap, a bowler, or a bonnet, you win. How hilarious would it be to see him in a bonnet?
With Outkast’s Big Boi set to make an appearance on the Halftime show this Sunday, it seems almost unthinkable that he will not perform “Mic Jack” at halftime with the band. This song was a hit for the Atlantan rap legend and features Levine. Makes sense, right? Well, according to Bovada, it seems incredibly likely to be performed. As such, they are offering -400 for anyone who wants to take these odds.
On the flip side, if you think this song is probably a little too risque or inappropriate for the millions of fans watching the show around the world, you can get odds of +250 that the song will not be played. You have to think that this song will feature, given that Levine and Big Boi are on the same stage, surely?
The “Genie in a Bottle” singer is a close friend of Adam Levine and is widely rumored to be preparing for an appearance on the night. If this is the case, then a bet on the singer to pop up at some point will get you odds of +225 from Bovada. These odds indicate that the bookie is not as keen to believe the rumors of her making an appearance than others are, however.
On the other hand, no appearance from the former teen pop idol will get you odds of -350. As you can see, this seems the more favorable scenario, from the perspective of the bookmaker. You can bet that there will be a lot of interest in Ms. Aguilera’s appearance and if you do back her to show her face at +225 – and she does just that – you will surely be buzzing.
One of the big stories heading into the Super Bowl Halftime show involves Maroon 5 playing a song from SpongeBob SquarePants. Yes, you read that right: Maroon 5 is believed to be set to play a song from SpongeBob SquarePants. A petition for the act to play “Sweet Victory” – a song that was sung at the “Bubble Bowl” in the cartoon – was set up following the death of SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg. The petition over at Change.org is approaching 1.2 million signatures.
It appears that the band will play the song, given that SpongeBob featured in the Maroon 5 Halftime Hype video, the Mercedes-Benz Arena tweeted a GIF from the show in December, and the guy who voiced “Squidward” on the show tweeted that he would introduce the band.
Suddenly, those odds of -220 look very appealing.
That being said, there is no guarantee that the band will perform the song. After all, there could simply be a rendition of the song played without the band. However, things do look very possible of coming together in the way that many savvy betting enthusiasts would want them to.
According to reports, Maroon 5 was not the act that the NFL had initially wanted to spearhead the Halftime show. Those same reports had indicated that Rihanna and Cardi B were first approached by the league, but turned their backs on the opportunity to perform in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.
One performer who has come in for a lot of criticism this year is rapper Travis Scott. There are many who believe that Scott should have rejected the opportunity to play at the Halftime show in a similar showing of solidarity a la Rihanna and Cardi B. As it stands, Scot will be performing alongside Maroon 5 and Big Boi. However, some bookmakers believe that there is a small chance he might show his appreciation for Kaepernick, after all.
Should Scott take a knee during the halftime show, it would certainly catch huge attention and give him a lot more exposure around the world. Although it would be highly controversial, it is possible that the rapper could pull it off. Bovada is offering odds of +170 that the “Goosebumps” star will take a knee at any time during the Halftime show.
Although it can happen, the same bookie believes that the chances of it happening are slim. As such, they are offering odds of -250 that it won’t happen at all. These odds certainly indicate that we are unlikely to see Scott take a knee, but in reality, anything can happen.
It’s a huge event. There is a great sense of occasion and fun when it comes to the Super Bowl and the big show at half time is always one that captures the attention. If you are used to simply betting on the game itself, then the prospect of placing multiple prop bets on the color of a singer’s shirt, or if a song from SpongeBob SquarePants will feature in the setlist, might appear odd at first.
